VITROVEX® glass floatation spheres are composed of two mated glass hemispheres that are evacuated and locked into position by a sealant and a protective tape. Once the spheres are sealed, the two hemispheres are kept together by the atmospheric pressure on land and the pressure of the water column when deployed.
Protective shells are available for VITROVEX® glass floatation spheres in smooth or ribbed design and bright orange colour. They can be used to assist mounting and retention or just as protection for the sphere. Protective shells are neutrally buoyant and made of polyethylene. In addition to that, VITROVEX® floatation spheres can be complemented by a mounting framework with swiveling sphere fixings, specially braided fiber ropes, thimbles and shackles.
