Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. My device shows as UNKNOWN in Seanet Setup. What does this mean?

If your device appears as UNKNOWN in Seanet Setup, it is typically an indication of a missing RS232 ground connection. To resolve this issue, please check for continuity on the copper sections between each end of the cable. If continuity is not established, it may suggest that you have an RS485 device connected to an RS232 port.

For detailed instructions on resolving this issue and getting your device properly connected, we recommend referring to our comprehensive document titled “Serial Port Connection and Setup Rev 1”. This resource provides step-by-step guidance on establishing serial port connections and setup, ensuring seamless communication with your device.
